Mathematics Standard and Life Skills 11–12 professional learning course

2025

This is an online self-paced course that I developed at the NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA) to familiarise teachers with the Mathematics Standard 11–12 Syllabus (2024) and the Mathematics Life Skills 11–12 Syllabus (2024). For this course, the subject matter experts (SMEs) added content into a storyboard template. Through several rounds of review and iteration, I worked with the SMEs to refine the storyboard for improved interactivity and user experience. I then built the course in the Canvas learning management system (LMS), using the html editor to design each page and embed assets created in Adobe Creative Cloud and Articulate 360 programs.

I created this graphic in Adobe Illustrator, using a combination of vector assets from Getty Images and the NSW Government pictogram library, as well as vectors that I created from scratch in Illustrator.

This multiple choice quiz was created using a combination of text styled with html in Canvas and an embedded SCORM package created with Articulate Storyline 360. The SCORM package allows for user input to be saved in the course over multiple sessions.

The Check your understanding container is a template that the online learning team now uses in all professional learning courses. I created this template by adapting designs used for similar activities in earlier courses, and then updated it based on feedback from the rest of the team.

I styled the example content point in the quiz instructions to appear as similar as possible to the content points on the NSW Curriculum website, to establish continuity in the user experience as users move between the LMS and the NSW Curriculum website.
